I just talked to Sis Davis this morning! She is getting transferred to Hull with my old Missionary Training Center companion Sis Christensen! They will get along just great. Sis Davis loves to match make so she's trying to match make me and a former missionary who served in Arcadia, CA. He also spoke Chinese and has yellow fever haha
This week we had the opportunity to hold Family Home Evening for a less_active family. The family is from i don't know where but they speak portuguese and are african. They have two boys ages 9 and 12. Their names are al-shidi and Ecclesiastes (I spelled those totally wrong but they are Muslim and Bible names) They are only less active at church because the dad works late on Saturday night and is too tired to take the family to Church on Sunday. But they are a great family, we taught them about Ammon's mission to the Lamanites in the Book of Mormon and the boys loved it. We also played a fun game called I Spy. The boys thought it was the best game ever, Al-shidi and I were talking and we found out that we are TWINS, except that I am 10 years older haha. He later, as we were leaving, invited me to Family Home Evening on our birthdays ahah. They are such a good family!
One night while street contacting, we met this Chinese girl, Amanda, and she was wearing a spongebob sweater haha That night wasn't very busy and we were having a tough time talking to people. But when we stopped Amanda and complimented her sweater, we started to have a good convo about Christians and she said that her friends were Christians and because it was Chinese New Year she gave us like tofu jerky stuff. She was so nice and friendly. It definitely made our day. We got her phone number and invited her to the church's Chinese New Year Party. Even in hard times of street contacting, the Lord will always put someone in your path to brighten your day.
We also had Zone conference last week. Mission President Graham Pilkington always has 4-6 people give talks and he chooses randomly. A projector shuffles pictures of all the missionaries in the zone and when President says ~stop~ it stops and he picks a number one thru eight which coordinates with the pictures on the screen and my picture showed up and at that moment i knew that i was giving a talk and he called my number
I gave a short talk on how the faith in christ has made me a better missionary and all of the talks have to be less than three minutes i spoke for a minute and thirty nine seconds haha it was good though
Our district also went up to discuss how our district goals help us be more successful so i had to go up twice and speak to a huge crowd of missionaries> i learned from zone conference that the change in our attitude will make the difference in our missions and life in general< which is completely true
i also learned that we shouldn't cut corners in the mission< we should be wise and obedient and accept correction>
these wise words of wisdom was from pres and sis pilkington
sorry my computer is being dumb and won't let me put commas and such>
but this week was great we also had a chinese new year party a lot of investigators came to that we had a talent show as well(: Doris and Crystal said this one day 'Gongxi fa cai hongbao na lai 恭喜發財紅包拿來'> saw sis lu at Zone Conference
