There were 2 Chinese native sister missionaries here in the York 2 district. I was supposed to be with one of them but the Assistants to Mission President Pilkington rang me and switched the companionships up. So Hart and I ended up white washing (we're both new to the area at the same time, so we have to figure out everything about the area and the people on our own)! Fun adventures for sure!
So earlier in the transfer, I forgot to tell yous a funny story...so Sis Hart and I were fun finding in the evening. We were talking to this nice lady and all of the sudden an old man in a scooter is pushing me across the sidewalk! He was running me over and at the same time said 'watch out! Sorry' and kept his hand on the trottle, going full speed. It was a hit and run. I wasn't hurt, more stunned at what just happened hahaaa yes, York is great, just gotta be careful of the old men in red scooters, they're out to get ya ;p
So since it is Christmas time, all the Chinese love to travel all over England. Chinese are so sparse, and Hart and I, me more so, are desperate to find Chinese. So whenever one is in our vicinity, we chase them down. We actually chased one for a block and a half, and she became a potential church investigator and later a church investigator. The power of hunting down Chinese! haha Her name is ALice, she actaully met missionaries a year ago but was scared of strangers so she ignored them. But after a year she got used to the York environment and people, so she was comfortable with us(: I used the prophet David O McKay's quote that's super popular in Taiwan, 'no other success can compensate for failure in the home'. i asked her to help me translate. And family is something super important to her and she agreed to let us talk to her more about family and building stronger relationships with them(:
But that was bascially the highlight of the week, oh we had our North Mission Christmas Party. It was great, I saw Sis Christensen, haven't seen her in ages. She was like the only person I knew fairly well. The party was filled with games, a talent show, food, and a film. It was just good relaxing time with mission mates!(: The York sisters did a song/skit. I'd send it but it's too long, so maybe I'll show it when we skype(:
This was the week! Not half bad, could be better but we'll keep trying to build the Church here!(:
