Sheffield and Newcastle have rivalry, it's funny to see the local church ward and meet them. They say Sheffield is Zion hahah but others think Newcaslte is the Promised Land! They want the Geordie outta me, one member will be teaching me some Yorkshire phrases haha
I gave a talk at church this Sunday about Humility and doing the Lord's will. I've had loads of experiences with the consequences of not being humble. Like when I put my hands on the stove...and cut my finger on the open veggie can...hahha I used some in my talk.
And yes, I pierced my ears. I promised Sis Larson that I'd get my ears pieced if we got transferred. She wanted to pierce me ears too. I thought she wouldn't get transferred for her last transfer, but she did so I pierced me ears! It doesn't hurt too bad.
So this week...Monday and Tuesday went as normal we scheduled gospel teaching appointments with potential church investigators for the week and did some street contacting. Then Wednesday came. Mission President Pilkington rang, Sister Monroy got E.T. (emergency transferred out) and switched areas with Sister Dietrich (who was in Chesterfield, she's also a Sister Training Leader). So Sis Dietrich and I will be companions for like 5 days until this Wednesday comes around. President rang again to tell me, personally, that I will train a new missionary soon! I kinda heard thru the phone call Sis Monroy and Pres Pilkington had that I would most likely train. But President never rang me to actually tell me! So I thought he was still thinking about it haha But the night I got the call, I couldn't sleep for ages from the excitement/nervousness/other emotions. But I'll be training an American Chinese Speaker. Her Chinese might even be better than mine. She comes in with an elder who will be trained by Elder Chan. In the MTC, Elder Hendrickson was in my district and he knows the new elder. So that's a lil fun fact for yous.
Yeah, so I've had to learn the whole Sheffield 3 area in like 3 weeks...that was stressful, I thought I had more time and relaxed a bit. Lesson learned procrastinators don't prosper haha
But working with Sister Dietrich is good, we've been doing loads of street contacting. Finding loads of Chinese potential church investigators and some English ones too. We have a few solid ones with return appointments for this week and they are Chinese students! That like never happens. So miracles are definitely happening!
Amongst all the craziness, another miracle happend. This was Sunday morning, we left the flat early to do some street contacting along the way to the bus stop. As we were walking we just said 'Hi' to this girl and started to conversate with her. She said she was planning to go to church too. She is from Spain and Catholic. She is here studying English and just beginning, but thank goodness the Spanish teachers actually taught me something in high school. We spoke in Spanish and luckily (the gift of tongues is real) I could understand the majority she was saying in Spanish. We explained who we were and she had to leave because she was rushing to the loo. We gave her a mormon.org card and invited her to come to Church with us. As we were waiting for the bus, she appeared out of nowhere and wanted to come to Church with us! She came and had a great experience, Spanish speaking church members came to translate for us. She had to leave at 12 but stayed at church til' 12, so she was late for her appointment with friends. She enjoyed Church so much she put off her friends for a bit. The church members who translated for her said she said it was destiny to meet the missionaries and come to church. And we talked later on the phone and scheduled a time to meet! She's really positive and excited to meet us!(:
They should change me call to Spanish speaking and Chinese speaking haha jk! That'd be crazy, too cray (:
But this week we got two new church investigators! They were from when Sis Monroy and I scheduled teaching appointments for the week(: They are both super sincere to learn more. This sheffield 3 university area is bouncing back! We even got a Chinese less active church member to come to church too. He also had a test on Monday! Chinese students giving up study time is a serious sacrifice for them soo Clive coming to Church was fantastic.
I am really excited to make this Chinese Area flourish and training a new missionary will help that loads!
Thank you for all your prayers(:
I Love yous, Take care!
