This week went by quick and not much happened. These are my glasses! But this week, We worked with Barry (Bah- rey is how the English say it) a lot this week. He goes to visit his daughter every fortnight so this weekend he was out of town with his daughter. He likes how our Church is very family oriented. he wants to have a close family where his kids are also in the Church. We tried to get him over his concern with the Lord's law of tithing. he doesn't have that firm trust God will bless him if he pays his tithing. Sis Hurst and I and even Elder & Sis Marsh shared powerful testimony of tithing but it didn't convince him. So right now we are going to strengthen his faith and testimony in Jesus Christ and then come back to tithing. We have rescheduled his baptism for the 9th of May.
But a grand miracle happened this week. We met with Yizhi, she's a Chinese lass. Sis Larson and I first contacted her, but she was busy at the time. Sis Salcedo and I also met her a few times on the street, but she was also busy at the time to meet with us. And this week Sis Hurst and I ran into her! We talked and she said out front that she is Buddhist and is not interested in changing her religion but she wants to learn more about Christianity. She agreed to meet with us a few days later. While preparing the lesson for her in companionship study, I just wanted to peruse over the material we would share with her. Because I felt that she wasn't interested in converting to Christianity, but I had a feeling to do proper preparation and study with my companion. And I prayed for Yizhi's heart to be softened. And in the lesson we taught Lesson one - the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and invited her to be baptised. She replied with, 'I don't think I will convert in 5 months (that's when she leaves to go back home).' But we assured her she can with prayer, reading the scriptures and going to church. And she scheduled to meet with us every Wednesday at 2 o'clock. SHE scheduled the appointments. I am glad I listened to the Holy Spirit to prepare a proper lesson, a great miracle came from it.
Last week in street contacting, we were stopped at a light and I and a Chinese lass also waiting for the light. And at first I didn't want to talk to her but then I felt like I should, and so I did. I explained who missionaries are and asked if she was interested in learning more about Christianity. Her reply, '可以 keyi (sure/yeah)' Her response took me by surprise, I almost was a loss of words because it was a really quick response and it was a yes. Not many Chinese will say yes to learn more about religion. We later scheduled an appointment with her for this week! Great miracles from heeding the Holy Spirit's promptings(:
And in street contacting we are working on the Chinese even though I am considered to be in the English-assigned part of Newcastle. The Zone Leaders are making a big push on it. And Chinese finding is great with Sis Hurst. She's haole and all the Asians like to talk to haoles haha Most of the Chinese students are pretty good english so talking to them in English is no problem(:
Hope yous are doing well, LOVE YOU
