The beginning of this week was pretty sad. Two of our church investigators dropped us. AT THE SAME TIME! A text right after the other. I was really sad. They seemed really interested in the Church. They were just learning for the secular knowledge. But after losing these 2 investigators we gained lots more. Crystal came to Institute Class with Fang Fang (her friend). Institute was great, the teacher taught about the Word of Wisdom (staying healthy) and both fang fang and Crystal enjoyed it. And we set up a lesson with Fang Fang.
When we taught Fang Fang, she really enjoyed the lesson. She has the mind set of basically 'Do good things'. And she thinks that the Church teaches that. We had a great lesson, gave her commitments and scheduled her baptism for the14th of March and she will totally be solid by then. And today we are going to buy piano books with her because she found out sis larson teaches piano and asked sis larson for piano playing advice.
Miracle lesson with Crystal! We taught Crystal about Enduring to the End, she's had all the lessons and since last Sunday was Fast Sunday we wanted to fast with her and pray for her parents to have softer hearts and let her be baptised. Crystal, being the missionary-minded she is, has already been sharing with her parents each time they talk about what she's learned about with the missionaries or at Church or Institute Class. And when baptise came up, her parents now don't oppose it or hate it any more. Yet, they don't support baptise either. They allowed her to chose for herself. And she chose to be baptised next week! We have scheduled her baptism for the 14th of February! Valentine's day! And on Valentine's day we have another baptism. Mandy! Church investigator Valentine has been pushed back, we recognised he needs more time to develop his faith(: but he will get baptised. Mandy is super golden and is so ready to get baptised. I can't wait for feb 14th(:
At Family Home Evening our potential church investigator invited us over for hotpot! Because where he is from they have the spicy hotpot and sis larson and I like spicy hot pot. yum. We invited Angela, a member, to come with us so it wasn't just going to be us and a man eating together because that's dodgey. But we ended up eating with all his flat mates as well. All 3 of them. 1 was from Kenya, named Peter, he is Christian and had many questions in what we believed in. He was interested that we had this Book of Mormon, and downloaded the free APP on his phone right there and then. The other two are from China. Yang yi is like as tall as Yao ming almost 2 meters. He, we found out is Crystal's classmate, he had lots of questions about the Word of Wisdom. Because at the beginning of hotpot, our main potential-Stefan, set drinks on the table. Wine and Coke. At that moment, Sister Larson, angela and I freaked out. We didn't know how to handle the situation. But when Stefan started pouring drinks, sis larson saved the day by asking them to drink it later in a nice polite way. And that's how we got in the conversation of the Word of Wisdom. And YangYi was super interested about our rules. The last flat mate, li, asked us why there were so many Christian churches. And we told them all about Joseph Smith and the apostasy of Christ's original church. We basically had Lesson one and hotpot at the same time. And bringing Angela was perfect. She answered a lot of questions for us. She is a solid ward missionary. At the end of hotpot we invited them over to Church.
On Sunday we had Yang Yi and li at church they enjoyed it and wanted to learn more so we scheduled a lesson with them(: Stefan was in York and Peter was busy but they will be at Church next Sunday(:
The Sister Training Leader, sis holland, also came over. We did like 3 hours of finding together. It was fantastic finding. We talked to English and Chinese people. Had really interesting conversations with English people. I also did knocking doors for the first time! It was great! People can't run away from you but they can slam the door haha we talked to a lot of old ladies who didn't want anything to do with us. But that's alright because we got a lot of potential church investigators to call. And one of them went to Church on Sunday(:
Ah and on Sunday, I got a quick result of my new year's resolution of smiling more. I was on the metro standing next to the door and this asian guy was looking at me so i smiled and waved. He stopped and said 'moermenjing ma 摩爾門經嗎?' and i said 'Dui a 對啊' and I handed him a card with our number on it. We later found out that he was a Church member already and was looking for a Church he could go to!
This past week was a great week, hope this one is just as great(:
Sis wu is from China, the northpart by korea. She was baptised in Cyprus while studying there and had been a church member for 4 years. Her parents are not members she'll work on them later i guess.
For community service, we grade papers. ANd this week we are helping a member pack things because they is moving.
