So...this will be the very last email you receive from me whilst on the mish! After last Preparation Day on Monday, Feb 22 things have been a tad cray cray!
So after last p-day we, sis hart and I, did some major packing and cleaning the flat for the next missionary transfer this week. I would be joining the York 1 District sisters - Wood and Dietrich in a trio.
They also had a busying schedule cuz they were on exchanges. So the Pontefract Sisters were both in York 1, one with Wood the other with Dietrich. Sis Dietrich and Sis Froerer (from Ponty) came from york 1, picked me up plus all me belongings ... mate their flat is so tiny! We hit a round about whilst we were there haha
I was kinda a floater sister missionary whilst the Ponty sisters were on exchange cuz for the rest of the night i went with Sis Wood and Peterson to their local church ward's missionary correlation meeting. Whilst Sis Wood was focusing, Sis Peterson and I figured out how to set up her iPad. Sis Peterson is great, love that lass.
And to end the night, all 5 of us had to sleep in the York 1 flat....you can barely fit 2 people in there. And we squeezed in 5! 2 were in there respective beds, 1 on the couch, 1 on an air mattress, and 1 had to make do and try to survive the cold English night finding a place to lay down. That one, was me....I initially shared the couch with Sis Froerer but I couldn't move and couldn't get comfy. So I moved to an arm chair...it was alright but I had no blankets and I was frigid, I woke up a few times and each time I'd get an article of clothing - a beanie, scarf and jacket. I tried to just sleep thru the cold but I wasn't strong enough.....so me last resorts were either the bathroom - where it's carpeted and has a nice heater, or next to the radiator in the study room. Carpet in the bathroom just sounds bad, so I went in the study room. Position me self next to the radiator and placed me jacket over the rest of me and of course I had me scarf and hat on. Good thing, the Ponty sisters go home the next day! ;p
Trios are great, you get to be at the bottom of the totem pole hahaha didn't get much sleep but had loads of energy the next morning, all the stored energy of being in the flat(:
But the York 1 area is so small compared to York 2. Like people on the main road have pretty much met the missionaries like 3 times in the past 3 months. So approaching people who've already met you is totally a different story, took loads of adjustment. Still learning even at the end of me mish. And since we are in a group of three, it looks like were ganging people and trapping them to talk to us haha looks more intimidating to talk to us, but we luckily still get to talk to a few people.
We worked both areas York 1 and 2. So we still saw Li (: We all went to a baptism together and he loved it. He thought the ceremony would last a tad longer but he got to ask the person who got baptised some great questions. We also saw Li yesterday for the last time :'''''( We taught him more about the keeping the sabbath day holy and went thru the xili 洗禮 baptism questions with him. And he's ready to be baptised on the 12th of March! I just feel so happy for him, he's so great. He's ace. And he's bringing a friend to Church with him this Sunday! Already a missionary (: i passed him to Elder Von Cannon (who was in my district in the Missionary Training Center when I first started as a missionary 18 months ago) and Elder Hanks. So I know he's in good hands. But it was so hard to say goodbye to him, he just looked like a sad puppy. I'll facetime me self in to his baptism so I can be there(:
But saying goodbye is the worst, your heart just aches. And I'll be saying goodbye to England in a few days...this land definitely has me heart. What an amazing experience I've had here. No words can describe it. I hope to return sometime soon.
Funny story, whilst we were driving, some geese were crossing the street....the geese luckily lived to tell the tale. But it was super close and majoring swerving was involved....hhaha gotta love adrenaline rushes!
But trios are interesting...it's so hard to please two people let alone one. I was often torn between two and the peacemaker haha compromise was key. But all good fun and good experience! Loved it!
See you's soon, in like 57 hours.....(:
