Valentine's day baptism

What a great week for two of our church investigators, Crystal and Mandy, to get baptised. Now these newly baptised church members have Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ as their Valentines haha The baptismal service was great. Jeff, Cathy, and Rachel all gave wonderful talks on baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost. Crystal was first to get baptised. She was so excited for it she almost baptised herself, she couldn't wait for the baptismal prayer haha. Elder Chidester baptised her. Mandy went right after Crystal. Her feet did slip and Freddie had to hold her under to get her completely under the water but they both did well. Freddie actually introduced Mandy to the Church so it was fantastic that he did the baptism(:

This baptism was also fantastic because Valentine was there to see and experience what is done at a baptismal service. He enjoyed it and said that the ceremony was actually quite short. He is still considering getting baptised and has so much faith in Christ. He is keeping all of the commandments even though he whined that we missionaries are giving him too many commandments to follow. If he continues to pray to God about getting baptised and reading the Book of Mormon he will sooner or later get baptised. Fang Fang (Olivia), a church investigator and also Crystal's friend, came to witness Crystal get baptised. She is scheduled for baptism for the 14th of March and is progressing so well.

Doris, who is a Chinese church member that was baptised before I arrived in Newcastle, introduced Crystal to the Church. And Crystal introduced Fang Fang. It's a chain reaction. I love it. Fang Fang will refer a friend to us too, sometime in the near future.

Well after the baptism there was a Church activity, a Valentine's Dance. It was just a big family dance party. All the children went crazy and danced like I've never seen before. We missionaries, encouraged the Chinese guys to dance with the Chinese girls on the slow dances. It was super cute to see them all dance together(:

I will tell both Crystal and Mandy how to do family history genealogy research. Crystal already wants to do it. And both want to go to the next Preston England Temple trip to be baptised in behalf of the ancestors. We have zone conference for Chinese New year's Eve. And a tea appointment with the Somers, English Church members. Nothing really, except a Chinese New Year party on saturday. I spent £50 on these boots, they looked like good quality and they were from a good store. Boots here are already so expensive. England is Expensive. I do lots of walking, walk walk walk everyday for long times.
the Jewellery is from Sis Salcedo. She has lots so I barrow ahaha

For Zone Preparation day we decorated valentine cookies and ate sis Marsh's soup-potato soup, and watched Surf's Up(: After the movie we played mafia. Everyone thought I was the Mafia because I was okay with people voting me out. They killed an innocent citizen!

Oh Doris is so funny. She was pretending to be a chinese vampire so I pretended to put a banner on her head to like freeze her haha I only understand Asian people because I watched all those Chinese films with mom!

Other lesson with church investigators we had this week were with Martin and others. Martin, our BBC, is such a good guy. He went from an atheist to reading the Book of Mormon and praying to God. When we had a lesson with him this week we scheduled him for baptism! We also wanted him to come to a baptismal service but he is home with family for the break. He'll be celebrating Chinese New Year at home with some good Chinese food.

Another huge miracle this week, Paul. We thought Paul dropped us because he didn't want to live God's law of health, the Word of Wisdom. He has a really tough time with that. We called him for a week straight and never got a hold of him so we thought he didn't like us any more. But when we were going to have a lesson with Freddie, he decided to join us! He was just waiting there with Freddie. We were so excited to see him. Paul is a great guy. He's really funny and has faith in Christ. It's great to work with him. We figured out what happened when he 'dropped' us. He actually texted us a long message explaining why he couldn't meet us but want to. He was just busy with a dissertation, exams, and group projects all at the same time. And since our phone is so old, Nokia brick, it only got like 2 sentences of his message which didn't make any sense. We thought he was on drugs because it said 'I have an essay and my mind is stoned' then 'I am free!!!' But after all that confusion, we are now in contact with him and will resume lessons with him and help him keep the Lord's Word of Wisdom.

This past week was great, I hope to continue to find people to come close to Christ.

Love,
Sis Chee
