Flora got baptised last Friday in Sheffield YAY!
The first 3 days in York. Rain. All day! It never stops here in England. Oh it's the best when you have to Fun Find in it as well haha, you get soaked! Everyone loves the winter time here ;p
So me new companion is Sis Hart, from Pocatello Idaho. She just got out of 12 weeks of training so I am following up training her, it's not as bad as other people say haha. So me area is a big mix of everything. Right now all the Chinese are on holiday so the Chinese people are so scarce and hard to find! If I see a Chinese person I run after them, that's how rare they are! So I've got to learn how to find English people. Kinda freaky, I've never talked to English people except on exchanges with other missionaries or talking to church members haha but this will be a good experience
Area booking (whitewashing - is when both missionaries both move into a new area at the same time, so neither one knows anything about the people or the place) is so stressful. It was kinda like when I started in Sheffield but to a more overwhelming degree. At least in Sheffield I had 2 weeks with Sis Monroy to teach me what to do and teach me about the area. But here is mental, York is way different to Sheffield. York city centre is massive, I get lost roaming thru it. It's like a gigantic mall but outside. We walked everywhere the first few days cuz we had no idea where the buses went haha. And we are basically started from ground zero. Everything is new and different for me, it's like being dropped in the middle of the ocean without the skills to swim. You are freaking out and stressing majorly, so much so, that you just kinda wanna quit. But there's always opposition in all things. This challenge will just be an opportunity for me to grow and learn(: That's the attitude I am trying to adopt and apply, any-who.
But besides Area Booking, the local church ward has been very friendly and nice. I am trying to focus all I do to help the ward members and build good relations with them. And hopefully this will spark missionary work with the ward members. This is probs the most important thing I learned in me mission. Member involvement and how to do it!
Have a great Holiday!(:
